What polishing can improve

Circular wash swirls and light marring

Dullness, oxidation and reduced paint clarity

Suitable fine scratches within the clear coat

Gloss and colour depth before wax or ceramic coating

What polishing cannot safely fix

Stone chips, exposed primer or missing paint

Deep scratches that catch a fingernail

Clear-coat failure, lacquer peel or corrosion

Every defect when safe paint preservation matters more

Professional process

Correction begins before the machine touches the paint.

1

Inspect and agree the target

We assess the paint, discuss the finish you want and choose the least aggressive stage likely to achieve it.

2

Clean and decontaminate

The vehicle is safely cleaned before bonded contamination is removed where required. Polishing dirty paint would create more defects.

3

Test the paint

A test area helps establish the pad, polish and number of stages needed before the full vehicle is corrected.

4

Correct and refine

We work panel by panel, checking the finish under suitable lighting and refining where the correction stage leaves haze.

5

Protect the result

Choose wax or ceramic protection and receive straightforward advice on washing the vehicle without quickly reintroducing swirls.

Machine polishing for Bolton and nearby areas

All work is carried out from our genuine Bolton workshop at 5 Thornton Street, BL2 2BU. Customers travel to us from North Bolton and surrounding villages for paint assessment, correction and protection without us pretending to operate separate local branches.

Send clear photos in daylight or visit the workshop. We can explain what is likely removable, what should be improved rather than chased, and whether Stage 1 is enough.

Machine polishing FAQs

Straight answers before you book.

How much does machine polishing cost in Bolton?

Our all-in machine polishing prices start from £160 for Stage 1, £240 for Stage 2 and £360 for Stage 3. These starting prices include the minimum cleaning and paint preparation required. Vehicle size, paint condition and any additional preparation can change the final price.

What is the difference between Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 polishing?

Stage 1 prioritises gloss and light swirl improvement. Stage 2 uses more correction for visible wash marks and tired paint. Stage 3 is a heavier restoration for more neglected paintwork. We recommend the least aggressive process that can safely achieve the result you want.

Will machine polishing remove every scratch?

No. It can remove or reduce defects that sit safely within the clear coat, but scratches that catch a fingernail, exposed primer, stone chips and paint failure may need touch-up or bodyshop repair. We will not chase a scratch if doing so risks the paint.

How long does machine polishing take?

Allow around 4 hours for Stage 1, 6 hours for Stage 2 and 8 hours for Stage 3, including the minimum cleaning and paint preparation. Vehicle size and condition can increase the time required, so we confirm a realistic collection time after assessing the vehicle.

Should I add ceramic coating after machine polishing?

It is usually the best time to add protection because the paint has already been cleaned and refined. Ceramic coating helps preserve the improved finish and makes maintenance washing easier, but wax remains a valid lower-cost short-term option.

Can a new car benefit from machine polishing?

Yes. New cars can arrive with light dealership wash marks, transport haze, water spotting or isolated defects. A light refinement may improve the finish before protection, but we inspect first and only recommend polishing when it adds value.
